Intended Use

One of the five types of WBC normally present in blood.
Eosinophil numbers increase as a result of allergies and infestation by
parasites, TB, brucellosis, collagen disease, Hodgkin’s,
myeloproliferative diseases, angioneurotic edema, dermatitis, thymic
disorders, radiotherapy, splenectomy, Addison’s, decreased in
Cushing’s.

Limitations

Clotted sample; hemolysis; tube not filled to correct
volume.

needed.

Reasons for Rejection

Clotted sample, improper tube, incorrect volume, incorrect
labeling, dilution of blood with I.V. fluid, samples older than 24
hours.
