Storage Instructions

Examination of urine with test strips must be performed
within 2 hours of collection.
Transport refrigerated up to 24 h. Protect from light. Do not add
preservatives.

Intended Use

Hematuria (excretion of erythrocytes in urine) is encountered
in many pathologies.

The test aids in diagnosis of pathologies of kidneys and
urogenital tract: glomerulonephritis, tumour, stones, pyelonephritis, UTI.
Hemoglobinuria and myoglobinuria can be found in severe hemolytic anemia
and intoxications, muscle injuries, severe infectious diseases, burns,
progressive muscle diseases.

 

Limitations

Results refere to intact erythrocytes. If significant
hemolysis, values may be higher than those given for intact erythrocytes.
Not recommended to perform test to women 3 days before to 3 days after
period.

Patient Preparation

No patient preparation
needed.

Reasons for Rejection

Improper labeling; tubes with boric acid or tartaric acid
(e.g. BD gray-top C&S tube);
Boricon, Bortiex, or Boricult yellow-top C&S tubes; specimen
not refrigerated or preserved; specimen more than 48 hours old when
unpreserved/refrigerated or more than 72 hours old for BD transport
tube.
