Intended Use

Detect folate deficiency; monitor therapy with folate;
evaluate megaloblastic and macrocytic anemia; evaluate alcoholic patients
and those with prior jejunoileal bypass for morbid obesity or those with
intestinal blind-loop syndrome.

Limitations

In patients receiving therapy with high biotin doses (ie,
> 5 mg/day), no sample should be taken until at least eight hours after
the last biotin administration.
In rare cases, interference due to extremely high titers of
antibodies to streptavidin and ruthenium can occur. The test contains
additives that minimize these effects. It is contraindicated to measure
samples of patients receiving methotrexate or
leucovorin.

Measuring range: 0.6-20 ng/ml
