Evaluate erythropoitec activity which is increased with
haemorrhage, and hemolytic anemias. Evaluating erythropoietic response to
antianemic therapy.

Limitations

Caution should be taken with recently transfused patients
(Reticulocytes may decrease on a dilutional basis due to
transfusion).

Reasons for Rejection

Clotted sample, improper tube, incorrect volume, incorrect
labeling, dilution of blood with I.V. fluid, samples older than 48
hours.
