Intended Use

Initial test in thyroid diagnosis.TSH is a very sensitive and
specific parameter for assessing thyroid function and suitable for early
detection or exclusion of disorders in the central regulating circuit
between hypothalamus, pituitary and thyroid.

Limitations

In patients receiving therapy with high biotin doses (ie,
> 5 mg/day), no sample should be taken until at least eight hours after
the last biotin administration.
In rare cases, interference due to extremely high titers of
antibodies to streptavidin and ruthenium can occur. The test contains
additives that minimize these effects. It is recommended that only one
assay method be used consistently to monitor each patient’s course of
therapy.
