Intended Use

Look for hyperuricosuria in patients with renal calculus
formation. Identification of overexcretors re: risks of stone formation,
identification of genetic defects, influence of overexcretion on therapy
of gout. Uric acid nephrolithiasis occurs in primary gout or in secondary
hyperuricemia (e.g. malignant diseases). Uric acid nephrolithiasis may
complicate ulcerative colitis, Crohn disease, and surgical jejunoileal
bypass.  Evaluate uric acid
metabolism in gout.

Collection times not indicated; improper
labeling

 

Patient Preparation

Instruct the patient to void at 8 AM and discard the
specimen. Then collect all urine including the final specimen voided at
the end of the 24-hour collection period (i.e. 8 AM the next
morning).
